2010 is a very exciting time for Healy State School and MISSA -  it is the first year in a very long time that Healy will be hosting the 2010 Cricket here at school.  In 2009 Healy put a lot of resources into developing all our oval areas and with the support of local clubs and the P&C the school now has a wonderful school oval.
The Mount Isa School Sports Association (MISSA) is committed to providing students in the Mount Isa region opportunities to engage in organised school sport.
Sport plays a vital role in young people’s physical, social and emotional development. Participation in school sport enables our students to experience competition, social interaction, enjoyment and development of personal fitness.
Goals of MISSA include:
  • To facilitate maximum participation of students in school sport.
  • To promote and develop school sport in the Mount Isa region.
  • To provide leadership for school sport within the region.
  • To coordinate the efforts of schools within the region.
  • To improve the opportunities of students to participate in higher levels of competition.
  • Through sport, provide our students with learning experiences that are personally satisfying and fulfilling.
The attainment of these goals is facilitated by the following factors:
  • The association consists of dedicated teaching staff & principals.
  • Professional development opportunities to provide individuals with the skills of sport coaching are extended to all school staff and interested community members.
  • A multitude of sports including: athletics, cricket, netball, rugby league, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis and touch football are on offer to our students.
  • The association members meet on a regular basis to ensure that the effective running of the school sport program occurs throughout the school year.
